After becoming one of the most internationally infamous musicals of this generation, Jonathan Larson’s RENT lands in Harrisonburg’s Court Square Theater for a rocking, raging and sexy limited engagement! Performances are Thursday, April 21st and Friday, April 22nd at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 23rd at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Set in the early 1990’s East Village of New York City, RENT follows a group of Bohemian friends as they journey through “a year in the life” together. This daring musical updates the story of Puccini’s opera, La Boheme, with a backdrop of grunge, HIV, drugs, sexuality, and homelessness. Set to a driving rock score including addicting songs like “Seasons of Love,” “One Song Glory,” “Take Me or Leave Me,” and “Without You,” RENT envelopes you in its passion and lust for life. The Tony, Drama Desk, Theatre World, Obie, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League and Pulitzer Prize winning RENT is a testament to the human condition, as it asks us to measure our lives in love and live like there is no day but today.
